1 | I wanted the farmhouse to be the center of focus, so I placed that in the lower left section.

2 | Fill the middle third in with a dark curtain of background forest.

3 | To enhance the contrast and keep the farmhouse as the center of focus, darken everything around these buildings. This separates the farm from its background and keeps it from getting lost in the trees.

4 | Next, add foreground branches in the upper third of the image. These act as a proscenium arch would in a theater, framing the image.
